Maguire psychiatric hospital has a new psychiatric residency program (2025-2026 inaugural year) affiliated with California University of Science and Medicine. Oroville Hospital has approximately 130 total beds. The institute enhances neuropsychiatric care in the Oroville community and surrounding region by providing excellence in patient care, clinical research and medical education. It represents a transformational movement in mental healthcare, and it will positively impact numerous lives and shape the future of neuropsychiatric care in the North Valley.

 

Staff Psychiatrist Adult Inpatient Care

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will bring:

  • Board certified or board eligible Psychiatric Physician (MD or DO)
  • Experience with adult inpatient populations
  • Strong collaboration, documentation, resident training interest
  • Commitment to providing high-quality, patient centered psychiatric care

Schedule and Logistics

  • 7 on / 7 off rotating schedule (7:30 AM 7:30 PM PT).
  • Attending and supervising, guiding and leading, psychiatry residents
  • Covering PSY patients in the ED – everything in the hospital that has an acute psychiatric need (including ICU, med surge, OB floor) comorbid medical patients
  • No call
  • EMR Tenzing

 

Responsibilities

  • Supervising the residents for inpatient care
  • Interviewing and examining clients to diagnose psychiatric conditions and determine appropriate treatment.
  • Referring clients to appropriate treatment resources.
  • Participating in treatment planning and case conferences.
  • Prescribing psychiatric medications and collaborating closely with facility staff.
  • Monitoring and documenting treatment progress.
  • Preparing comprehensive records, reports, and required documentation.
  • Participating in meetings, programs, and multidisciplinary processes.
  • Providing psychiatric care for dually diagnosed clients, including participation in treatment reviews and service authorizations.
